初めてブログの書き込みをしました。
This is my first blog entry.

名前はスチュワートで、日本に来て10年ぐらいになります。
My name is Stuart and I have been living in Japan for about 10 years.　

農業歴はまだまだ浅いけれど、すごく楽しいです。僕がやっていることをぜひ興味のある方とシェアしたくてブログを始めました。
I might only have limited farming experience, but it’s great fun and I wanted to share my experiences with you. That’s what prompted me to start this blog.

対訳書き込みにしたのは本業が翻訳家なので、いい練習になるかなと思ったのと、きっとうちのイギリスの母親も読んでくれると思ったからです。
The reason why I’m writing in both English and Japanese is because my main job is translation and I thought it would be good practice. Also, my mother will probably want to read it.

いよいよ雪が溶けて、ブラックベリー畑のところどころに早春の訪れが見られます。
The snow has finally melted and signs of early spring are appearing all over my blackberry field.

ブラックベリーの木には若葉が出てきました。
New leaves can be seen on the blackberry bushes.

ルバーブも作っていて、今年の芽が根っこのところから出始めています。
I also grow rhubarb and this year’s shoots have started to emerge from the root.

今年の冬は大雪に何度も見舞われ、多くの被害が出ました。雪の重さで、ブラックベリーの木が倒れたり、遮光ネットをかけるくいが折れたり倒れたりしています。
The numerous heavy snowfalls this winter left some damage. Blackberry bushes and the poles on which I hang the shading net have snapped and collapsed due to the weight of the snow.

これからは、落ち葉の片づけや剪定の作業が待っています。春は楽しいけど、本当に忙しい！
Next job is to tidy up the dead leaves and do some pruning. I love Spring but it’s really busy!
